Varsity Coach Shawn Palmer
Coach Palmer is entering his twenty-first year as the Head Varsity Coach. The Rangeview program places a strong emphasis on player development, fostering great teammates and servant leaders. Coach has graduated 50 players from Rangeview that have moved onto play college basketball at a variety of levels including 8 players getting an opportunity to play at the Division One level. Palmer is a 1999 graduate of Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN where he played basketball for the Eagles. After Graduation he coached basketball at Blaine HS in MN for one year. He received his Master’s degree and also coached for the men's basketball program at Colorado Christian University, before coming to Rangeview in 2002. Palmer has worked at Rangeview for 21 years. He and his wife of 25 years, Colette have a son Cade, who is a 2021 1st team all state player and graduate of Rangeview, he is also the career leader in 3 point field goals and starter on the 2019 State championship team. Palmer and the entire coaching staff are looking forward to another year of helping the Raiders learn how to compete at a high level, and become great competitors, servant leaders and student athletes. Coach Jay Gibson - Varsity Assistant
Coach Gibson enters his fifth year as varsity assistant coach, he has been coaching basketball for 14 years. The previous 3 before coming to Rangeview were spent coaching at Howard University as an assistant to the Howard Club Team both for the men and the women’s basketball. He began coaching while still in high school volunteering with elementary school-aged kids before transitioning to Washington, DC for college. He also coached at Capital City Public Charter School as an assistant Varsity coach. There he helped lead the CCPCS Eagles to an ISSAC division championship. Coach Gibson received his Bachelor’s degree from Howard University’s Business School & is currently working towards obtaining his Master’s in the Art of Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. Coach is currently working at DSST: Green Valley Ranch as a Dean of students. He is psyched about coming back to work with one of the top programs in Colorado. Jay is married to his wife Meredeth and they are the proud parents of Brielle Gibson (3) and Judah (2).

Coach Tyler Carrol - Head 9th Grade Coach
Coach Carroll is entering his second year on staff and first year as head freshman coach this year at Rangeview. Coach Carroll is a 2 time State Champion (1 as a player and 1 as an assistant coach). He was a part of the 2004 undefeated team at Denver East. Carroll also was an assistant coach with the 2014 championship team at Denver East. Coach has won 4 city championships as Head Freshman coach at Denver East High School. /he has also coached at Douglas County High School. Coach Carroll is son to Eric Carroll who has coached for over 20 years and helped many student athletes achieve their goals on and off the court. Coach Carroll is a Campus Monitor at Rangeview and is dedicated to helping students achieve their goals on and off the court.
Coach Corey Nabors – Head Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Nabors returns for his twelfth year coaching for Rangeview Basketball. Coach will enter his fourth year leading our junior varsity program. In his first year as the JV coach he led the team to a 16-3 record, last year they posted a 9-0 league record. His 9th grader teams were seven-time winners of our 9th-grade winter "Raider Madness tournament." His 2016-2017 team went undefeated versus all other 9th grade teams and beat 2 JV teams. Corey graduated from University of Colorado in 2011 where he played football for the Buffaloes. Corey was an all-state running back for the Rangeview Raiders, leading the state in rushing his senior year; he was also a three-year guard on the varsity basketball team. He graduated from Rangeview in 2006. Corey finished his master degree from CU and has a successful career as a real estate professional. Nabors has also been a member of our football coaching staff. We are pleased to have Corey back on our staff to continue preparing young Raiders for varsity basketball. In 2019 Corey married Kayla, who teaches at Aurora Frontier and Coaches Volleyball.
Coach Auston Brecht - Head C Team Coach
Coach Auston Brecht returns as our C Team basketball coach this season. Coach Brecht was a C team coach and assistant JV coach in his original 4-year time on our staff. He joined the staff again in 2020. He had great success coaching our C team, including a team that recorded an 18-1 record. He returns as the C team coach and will work with some of our top 9th and 10th grade players that will develop as future Varsity contributors. Auston is also a key member of our student leadership and student council at Rangeview. In May of 2018, he married Amanda, who is a current Math teacher and welcomed their first child, Kennedy in December 2020, and son Jackson joined the family in March of 2022.
Coach Tim Neal – Assistant to JV and Lower Levels
Coach Neal has been coaching basketball for twenty seven years, the last fifteen as a Rangeview Assistant. He began coaching right after high school in The City of Aurora Program, where he coached for 10 years. He has also coached for 5 years at Peace with Christ Christian School before his time at RHS. Coach received his Bachelor's degree from Metro State College and his MBA from Regis University. He currently works at Archstone as an Accountant. Coach Neal has a 25-year old son, Seth, who is a graduate of Metro State. He is excited to return to the Raiders staff this year and will be the assistant coach for both Junior Varsity and our lower level teams.
